When Does Watching Videos Become Unhealthy?

Video content can help people relax, but the line between recovery and overconsumption is thin. How can we recognise when screen time starts affecting sleep, focus, and mental wellbeing negatively?

Video content can be a useful way to relax after a stressful day, but excessive screen time may slowly harm mental wellbeing. Many people notice warning signs such as difficulty sleeping, reduced concentration, constant fatigue, or feeling anxious when not checking their phones. Endless scrolling through social media, streaming platforms, or even

content can overstimulate the brain and reduce the quality of real rest. When entertainment begins replacing healthy habits like exercise, social interaction, or proper sleep, it may become harmful rather than restorative. Recognising these patterns early is important. Healthy screen use should leave us refreshed and balanced, not mentally exhausted or emotionally disconnected.
